The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for performing a variety of quality control tests and inspections on products at various stages of the process to ensure compliance with quality and food safety standards and in accordance with Schuman Cheese Mission and Values; working with Commitment, Honesty and Integrity, Pride, be Adaptable and Innovative.
Responsibilities:
Perform in-line quality checks and start-up preparation, to ensure standards are met, including weight checks, coding, oxygen checks, packaging, & leaker checks.
Perform sanitation inspection, routine metal detector verification checks, and daily scale checks.
Perform raw material inspection and testing, including sensory evaluation.
Mix sanitation chemicals and perform chemical titrations.
Accurately and promptly report all findings and results of out of specification product management.
Place product on hold when required and fill out associated paperwork to document issues.
Collect and monitor product samples for the retention program.
Monitor adherence to GMPs throughout the facility and provide co-workers with positive feedback and corrections as necessary.
Help sort product and correct quality issues as necessary.
Assure proper completion of necessary documentation.
Maintain responsibility for the quality and food safety of products and ensure procedures are followed at all times.
Bring food safety and quality problems to the immediate attention of Schuman personnel with authority to initiate action.

Education, Experience, Qualities and Skills Required:
High school diploma, or equivalent.
Experience in the food industry preferred.
Knowledge in HACCP and GMP regulations preferred.
Strong organizational skills and paying special attention to details.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to multi-task; work quickly while accurately.
Good mathematical and recordkeeping skills required.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, primarily Excel.
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to contribute to a team environment.
Ability to speak, read and write in English.
Dependable and reliable.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, on occasion up to 75 pounds.
Ability to perform repetitious, production-line types of work.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Able to work inside a freezer or cooler and in cheese processing environment temperatures (32 - 52 degrees F).
Able to work with tree nuts, milk, and egg allergens.
Schedules Available:
Monday-Thursday 2pm-12am Monday-Thursday 6pm-4am Job Type:
